A sense of history is very important to Isleworth & Syon, as we aim to be a school which looks to the future while ensuring that we never forget our past. For this reason, from 2015-2019, the school commemorated each of the 81 individuals that lost their lives during World War I, on the 100-year anniversary of their deaths. You can click on an individual’s name to view some information about them.
The project has now been completed, and this page will stay as a permanent record.

James Robert ADAM- James Robert Adam was a Second Lieutenant in the Middlesex Regiment. Mr Adam was the son of James John and Leila Mary Adam.James Adam died, with honour, on Friday 18 August 1916. He was 27 years old. He has a memorial at the Thiepval Memorial.
- Noel Bertram BARRETT was a Second Lieutenant in the Essex Regiment.
Second Lieutenant Barrett died, with honour, on Monday 29 April 1918. He was just 19 years old when he passed, and was survived by Ernest James and Ada Frances Barrett of Yew Cottage, Kingston Road, Staines.
He has a memorial at the Gonnehem British Cemetery.
- F J BEESLEY was a Sergeant in the Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent Regiment).
Sergeant Beesley died, with honour, on Wednesday 24 January 1917. He was just 19 years old when he passed, and was survived by Charles Frank and Alice Mary Beesley of 229 Ladbroke Grove, North Kensington, London.
He has a memorial at the Aveluy Communal Cemetery Extension.
- Ewart W Bevan was a Private in the Middlesex Regiment.Private Bevan died, with honour, on Sunday 10 June 1917. He was just 25 years old when he passed, and was the son of William Bevan of 100 Felix Road, West Ealing, London; and husband of Emily Bevan.
He has a memorial at the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
- A Bone was a Private in the London Regiment.Private Bone died, with honour, on Wednesday 20 September 1916. His age at time of death is unknown. He has a memorial at the Achiet-Le-Grand Communal Cemetery Extension.
- Brian Wallace Boseley was a Telegraphist in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (HM Trawler Remindo).
Mr Boseley died, with honour, on Friday 8 February 1918. He was just 19 years old when he passed, and was survived by Harry John and Kate Boseley of 76 Thornbury Road, Osterley Park, Middlesex.
He has a memorial at the Chatham Naval Memorial.
- Norman Charles Bradnock was a private in the London Regiment. Mr Bradnock was the son of Richard Willan and Ida Bradnock of 20 Bank Buildings, Purley, Surrey.
He died, with honour, on Sunday 9 May 1915; he was 20 years old. He has a memorial at the Plogsteert Memorial, Belgium.

- Robert Cecil Brinton was a rifleman in the London Regiment (Queen Victoria’s Rifles). He died, with honour, on Friday 24 April 1915.

- Edmund Alfred Henry Burn was a Private in the London Regiment (London Scottish).
Private Burn died, with honour, on Wednesday 31 October 1917. He was just 20 years old when he passed, and was the son of Henry W and Rose Burn of 379 Chiswick High Road, Gunnersbury, London.
He has a memorial at the Beersheba War Cemetery.
- Herbert Carter was a Rifleman in the Rifle Brigade. He died, with honour, on Monday 18 September 1916. He was laid to rest at the Thiepval Memorial.
- John Henry Collier was a Bombadier in the Royal Field Artillery.
Mr Collier died, with honour, on Sunday 22 April 1917. He was just 27 years old when he passed, and was husband to Florence Violet Jane Collier of 434 London Road, Isleworth, Middlesex.

- Maurice G Cossens was a rifleman in the London Regiment (London Rifle Brigade). He died, with honour, on Saturday 1 July 1916. He has a memorial at the Thiepval Memorial, France.
- C J Davies was a Private in the London Regiment. His date of death is unknown, but we know that he passed during World War I.
- Edgar Eldred was a Private in the Canadian Infantry. He was survived by Edgar and Helen A H Eldred of Crocus, Manitoba.
Private Eldred died, with honour, on Friday 15 September 1916, at the age of 29. He has a memorial at the Vimy Memorial, France.
- Hugh Frederick Eva was a Lance Corporal in the Manchester Regiment. Lance Corporal Eva died, with honour, on Wednesday 6 June 1917. He was just 26 years old when he passed, and was the son of Charles Frederick and Emily Sarah Eva, of 30 Northcote Road, St. Margarets, Twickenham, Middlesex.

- Ernest Alfred FINCH was a Private in the Imperial Camel Corps.
Private Finch died, with honour, on Wednesday 1 May 1918. He was just 23 years old when he passed, and earned the Medaille Militaire (France). He was the son of Ernest Edgard and Edith Mary Finch of 115 High Street, Hounslow.
He has a memorial at the Jerusalem Memorial.
- George Gandy was a gunner in the Royal Field Artillery.He died, with honour, on Saturday 23 October 1915. He died at the tender age of 19. Now, he has a memorial at the Mikra Memorial, Greece.
George was the son of George and Elizabeth Charlotte Gandy; they lived at 36 Avenue Road, Brentford, Middlesex.
- William John Gibbs was a private in the City of London Yeomanry (Rough Riders). He died, with honour, on Monday 23 August 1915. His age was unknown.

- J G Grout was a Private in the Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent Regiment).

- George William KEMP was a Private in the London Regiment (Prince of Wales’ Own Civil Service Rifles).

- Harold Caldecott Lake was a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force.

- William Albert Musk was a Rifleman in the London Regiment (Queen Victoria’s Rifles).
William Musk died, with honour, on Monday 9 October 1916. He was just 20 years old when he passed, and was the son of Albert William and Edith Maria Musk of Woodside, Feltham, Middlesex.

- James Nightingale was a Sergeant in the London Regiment. He was the son of James and Alice Mary Nightingale of 194 Church Road, Teddington, Middlesex.

- Ernest Edwin NORRIS was a third mate in the Mercantile Marine (SS Ancona – London).
Mr Norris died, with honour, on Sunday 27 May 1917. He was just 20 years old when he passed, and was the son of John and Julietta Susannah Norris of “The Hague”, Hanworth Road, Hounslow, Middlesex.

- John Alfred Stephenson was a rifleman in London Regiment (Queen Victoria’s Rifles)
