Site Developments - 2024-25

Site Developments

We are committed to continually enhancing our environment to support the best possible experiences for all who learn, work in and visit us. Over the course of 2024-25, a number of site improvements have been implemented, many of them behind the scenes, to make our school even more welcoming, secure, and fit for the future.

Hydration and Wellbeing

We have installed four new water fountains (picture 4)—combining both drinking spouts and bottle-filling options—across two key areas of the school. These new additions support student and staff wellbeing, encourage sustainable habits, and ensure easier access to fresh water throughout the day.

Behind-the-Scenes Upgrades

Although not always visible, critical upgrades have been made to the infrastructure of our site. This includes improvements to our boiler room controls, high electric windows, and high-level guttering. These upgrades increase energy efficiency, ensure better ventilation, and improve site resilience, especially during extreme weather conditions.

Enhancing Learning Spaces

New blinds have been fitted in selected classrooms and spaces to improve light control and create a more comfortable and focused learning environment. Additionally, the gymnasium has undergone long-overdue redecoration (picture 2), improving both aesthetics and usability for students during PE lessons and for community lettings.

Improved Security and Access

We continue to refine and strengthen our access control systems, further improving the safety of our site for everyone. In response to feedback from both students and staff, we have also expanded our CCTV coverage in a measured and thoughtful way—ensuring safety whilst respecting privacy.

Environmental Responsibility

With national recycling policies evolving, we have implemented a refreshed recycling plan to align with new government guidance. This includes increasing the types of materials that can be recycled and enhancing the number of recycling bins around the school—both inside and out (picture 3). It is a step forward in our commitment to sustainability.

A Space for Connection and Heritage

We are proud to have transformed an original room in the school into a brand-new conference room (picture 1). This multi-use space supports a growing need for hybrid meetings (both in-person and online) and serves as a hub for professional collaboration. Additionally, it features displays that celebrate the rich history of Isleworth & Syon, including curated historic documents and artefacts.

All of these improvements would not be possible without the dedication, skill, and hard work of our outstanding Operations and Estates Team. Their commitment to maintaining and enhancing our complex site is often behind the scenes but makes a visible difference every day. From ensuring compliance and safety to improving the day-to-day experience of our school community, their efforts are deeply appreciated. Together, these enhancements reflect our shared commitment to making Isleworth & Syon a fantastic place to learn, work, and visit.
