School Council - Autumn Term 2025
We do everything we can to give students plenty of chances to be leaders, as it is fantastic for their personal and spiritual development. It is even better when they can directly influence the day-to-day life of the school. Each form group elects representatives to the School Council, which was ably led this year by Head Student Arjun Ruprah (pictured right) and his deputies – Shahjahan Akbar, Ollie Gilmour and Jiya Mangat. They were also assisted by the four Senior House Ambassadors and the wider Sixth Form Student Leadership team; they did a fantastic job at managing a large group of students and ensuring the meeting was constructive and valuable.
Before the Council took place, each House and Citizenship Ambassador led a whole form conversation to get some student voice about the issues that matter to them, which informed the meeting's agenda. It was great to see these students acting as a formal spokesperson for their entire form group, and it meant the meeting ran smoothly and effectively. Taking place in the dining rooms, the meeting saw students exchanging views on a variety of topics, including homework, local community engagement, behaviour, extra-curricular activities, reading and the school canteen! After the meeting, the Sixth Form leaders met with the Co-Headteachers to feed back student proposals from the session. We will have more information next month about what will happen next. Well done to everyone who took part in this important example of student voice in action.
