Ready Evenings

As the new year began, we hosted a series of events to help families adjust to moving from one key stage to the next. These traditional annual events are called “Ready” evenings and help set expectations for the year ahead. The three events were aimed at Year 7, Year 10 and Year 12 and was targeted at not just students but parents/carers too. We were very impressed with the turnout from families. These events were a fantastic example of partnership working between home and school - a key pillar of life at Isleworth & Syon.

KS3-Ready Evening (Year 7)

We know that it is not just students that have to cope with the transition from primary school to secondary school. We know that this huge change has an impact on families as well. With this in mind, we organised a special parent/carer evening on Thursday.

The main aim of this Key Stage 3-Ready Evening was to help parents/carers understand how they can help children be ready for the challenges of Key Stage 3. We explained how students would become an Isleworthian during their time in school, particularly how we would focus on their development from boyhood to manhood. It was a successful evening – parents/carers can view the whole presentation below or download it underneath.

KS4-Ready Evening (Year 10)

We are fully aware that many students find it a challenge to move up a key stage – as demands increase, so do the pressures. So, we do everything we can to support them with this journey. The move from Key Stage 3 (Year 9) to Key Stage 4 (Year 10) is a great example, with GCSE courses offering a more challenging curriculum and way of working for students.

The KS4-Ready Evening saw all Year 10 parents/carers and students invited invited to an hour-long presentation. It contained a number of tips to help them maximise students’ progress ahead of their examinations in Summer 2027. Thank you to those who attended. KS5-Ready Evening (Year 12)

On Thursday 11 September, we hosted our first parent/carer event of the year – our KS5-Ready Evening for new Year 12 parents/carers. This important event, hosted by the Sixth Form team, introduced families to our Sixth Form expectations and explained how we help students adjust to the complexities of Key Stage 5. There was strong messaging on the importance of profile-building using our excellent UNIFROG careers programme, as well as skill development using Cornell note-taking. These are all important employability skills!

The event will provide a great platform for sustained success. Parents/carers can view the whole presentation below or download it underneath. The presentation includes speeches from our Head Student Arjun Ruprah and one of his deputies, Jiya Mangat.
