Quantum Theatre - 'A Christmas Carol'
Quantum Theatre - Christmas Carol
For Year 11, every minute counts in the lead up to their summer examinations – and everyone in school works hard to help every student maximise his knowledge. A great example of this came this week to help the year group prepare for their GCSE English Literature paper 1. One of the set texts in that examination is Charles Dickens’ famous festive novel, ‘A Christmas Carol’. We welcomed Quantum Theatre into school for a very special abridged performance of the text.
Consisting of just three performers and a limited set, the company broke the novel down to its bare essentials, giving students all the information that they need to know. Indeed, the performance brought the text’s key themes to life in a way that will no doubt make it easier for students to write about in the summer! A few student comments are included below.
- "It was exceptional. I believe that it was extremely beneficial for our learning."
- "The show was helpful for our memory and learning. It will help in our GCSE."
- "It helped me to understand Scrooge's transformation even better. It also helped me to identify key quotes."
- "I enjoyed the performance so much I could watch it twice."
