Old Vic Schools Club 3 - 'Arcadia'

Old Vic Schools Club 3 - 2025-26

In 2025-26, we have continued our partnership with the Old Vic theatre in London’s West End. We are part of the Old Vic Schools Club, an exclusive grouping with only 40 state secondary schools taking part. During 2025-26, a small group of learners will receive four workshops from the theatre as well as attend four West End shows – for free!

After the first and second visits, students headed to the Old Vic again on Wednesday 4 March for the third production - Sir Tom Stoppard's play 'Arcadia'. The theatre's website describes the show as a study of "brilliant minds, burning hearts and the unstoppable pull between chaos and order." Students had a great time at this production, particularly enjoying the use of set (the revolve), staging and lighting to create atmosphere. Another enjoyed seeing "maths and physics integrated into a theatrical context."

A week later, students took part in the third workshop with staff from the theatre. This time around, students focused on props, using the play's script to identify props, creating a source sheet and making a prop for use in the play! It was a brilliant session, exposing students to a new facet of stagecraft and deepening their understanding of the play. Well done everyone for working hard in the workshop.
