ESU Performing Shakespeare - Regional Heats

We were thrilled to send three students to represent Isleworth & Syon at the regional final for the English-Speaking Union’s Performing Shakespeare competition. Young people from local schools recited their favourite piece of Shakespeare for an assembled audience of parents/carers as well as the judging panel. Our finalists were Year 9s Jay Byrepalli, Gus Clark and Aryan Rajan, all of whom progressed through the school final in the Autumn Term. Jay performed a monologue from 'Macbeth' while Gus and Aryan teamed up for a duologue from the same play. Each competitor also had to recite an additional oracy component. The boys did a brilliant job on the evening and were highly commended by the judges. This opportunity has helped to improve the boys’ confidence, which will absolutely have knock-on effects in the classroom as well.
