Cricket Match vs MCC
MCC Cricket 2026
One of our longest traditions in school is our annual cricket match against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). For context, we are one of the only state schools in the country to play this fixture! The MCC are based at Lord's and are one of the most prestigious cricket clubs in the world - so this was another fantastic and unique opportunity for the boys. This year's I&S team was made up of both current senior students and some alumni, while it was a particular delight to see some former Isleworthians in the MCC ranks too - a full circle moment!
After the toss, we bowled first. Zayd Kapadi (pictured third above) gave one of the most astonishing bowling performances the match has ever seen - earning an incredible eight wickets while conceding only 24 runs! This meant we restricted the MCC to 150, a great job from the team. When it came to the bat, it is fair to say that I&S struggled, mainly due to some brilliant spin bowling from the opposition. In the end, we came up short, but the boys could hold their head high after a spirited performance. Special praise most go to captain Ollie Gilmour (pictured second above with the MCC captain), who bowled and batted splendidly as well as leading by example in the field! Well done to all the boys for a superb effort on the day.
