A huge well done to our Key Stage 4 Badminton team, who retained their crown as West London Champions on Friday (6th February). A fantastic performance from the team (Daniel Cornhill, Ayden Davies, Shane Mathew, Tristan Liu and Jonathan Evans) saw them beat Kingsbury Academy 5-0 in the final. They now progress to the next stage of the competition, where they will be competing for two separate titles in the same tournament: London Youth Games Secondary Schools Final and Center Parcs National Schools Regional Final. It will take place on Tuesday 24th March at Crystal Palace.
Also competing in the West London Championships were our Key Stage 3 competitors (Sevak Sohi, Delaine Bedward, Ishan Kapila-O’Shea, Gaurav Kharaud and Razi Makame). They won a very respectable bronze medal, and were only a single point away from qualifying for the final.
Special mention should also be given to our Young Leaders (Ben Dunham, Shaan Tailor, Asad Kapadi and Harry Stenholm), who refereed the tournament. Badminton England were particularly impressed with the calibre of our boys as they officiated. They gave extra praise to Ben Dunham (8D), who is two years below the recommended age to begin officiating at this level (14), and yet was held up as a shining example to all young officials.
