There was an impressive turnout of prospective parents/carers and students for our Open Evening, held on Tuesday 29 September. Our guests had the opportunity to tour the school under the guidance of our volunteer students from Years 8-13. There was the chance to take part in many of the interactive displays in the different curriculum areas; to see evidence of the work of our current students; and to talk to the students and members of staff.
The students who took the tours or who were working in the departments were excellent ambassadors for the school and were a real credit to their families. Our thanks to them for their commitment and contribution throughout the evening.
The Headteacher, Euan Ferguson, gave a short address during the evening, outlining his core beliefs and values. As an educational institution, we strive to be outstanding in every respect, an ethos that informs all that we do, be it through our high-quality teaching and learning; our rich and varied extra-curricular provision; and the traditions that we uphold. Mr Ferguson explained how the school demonstrates a strong commitment to the pursuit of learning, not purely for the attainment of formal qualifications but with the intention of helping our students grow as individuals into mature, considerate and confident young men.
For those who were unable to attend on the evening, the school will also be hosting two more Open Mornings. These offer prospective parents/carers the chance to undertake a short tour of the school, seeing how we operate on a day-to-day basis. The Open Morning tours are scheduled as follows:
Wednesday 14 October
Tuesday 20 October
On each morning, tours will take place at 9.00am and 9.45am. They are by appointment only; to book, please telephone the school reception on 020 8568 5791.
Our boys out-perform their counterparts in local mixed schools and enjoyed record-breaking results this summer. We do hope that prospective parents/carers enjoyed their tours of the school. Please be reminded that applications are made through the Local Authority and should be completed by midnight on Saturday 31 October 2015 for entry in September 2016.
