Isleworth & Syon is delighted to receive notice that two of its students, Ricardo McMaster (13HDU) and Ellis Bloom (11C), have successfully gained places in the prestigious National Youth Theatre (NYT), specialising in acting and stage management respectively.

Both students were required to undergo a very competitive audition process and now proceed to a summer school at LABAN. Upon completion of this course, the boys will be able to take part in NYT events in the West End and internationally. Ricardo will undertake a residential course of workshops and improvised/devised work with a showcase at the end, which can then lead to auditions for main roles within the company. Meanwhile Ellis (aged 15) will form part of the stage management team looking after shows; this is particularly impressive as students are traditionally not accepted until they are 16.

Ricardo and Ellis are the fourth and fifth Isleworth & Syon alums to be part of the National Youth Theatre, joining current students Raymond Anum (13HDU) and Taheen Modak (13HDU), as well as past student Lizzie Rodipe.

Mrs. Davies-Jones, head of Performing Arts, said: “Once again we are extremely proud that our students have been successful in their application. The students will now be able to start a journey that will provide them with unrivalled opportunities and experiences in the world of professional theatre. We wish them every success, and look forward to seeing the productions they are involved in.”
