Two Badminton teams from Isleworth & Syon took part in the London Youth Games Secondary Schools Finals at Crystal Palace on Tuesday 1 April 2014. Having previously progressed through Borough and Country rounds, one Key Stage 3 and one Key Stage 4 team competed against the best schools in London for the right to progress to National Finals.
The Key Stage 4 team, made up of boys from Years 10 and 11, made it to the final, where they played Wilson’s School from Sutton. It was only fitting that these two teams competed in the final, as Sutton were our greatest rivals throughout the tournament. The match was locked at two games all, leading to a tense deciding game. Isleworth & Syon emerged victorious, much to the delight of their coach, Miss George. The team will now proceed to the Nationals, being held at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, on Sunday 11 May.
Well done to all those who participated, and congratulations to the winners: Daniel Cornhill (10C), Ayden Davies (10D), Oliver Bowles (11C), Ben Vertkin (11D) and Jeevan Sohi (11E).
